About
It’s been over a decade since California native James Palomares, aka DJSupaJames, got his first glimpse of mobile DJing from a cousin in Los Angeles. Although he was only 12 years old at the time, Palomares saw a future career in spinning records, and he quickly picked up the trade and built a company of his own, playing events all over Southern California. At just 14 he took it a step further, linking up with Rick Moorten of “Moorten In The Morning” and stepping into the radio scene first as an intern and eventually as co-producer of the #1 morning show in its market.
While working in the radio industry, Palomares met PJ “DJ PJ,” and the two combined companies to form Sound Masters Entertainment, an entertainment services company that soon dominated the Coachella Valley and Riverside club scene. When the radio station he had been working at flipped to an A/C format, Palomares knew it was time to move on. After patiently waiting in Palm Springs and constantly sending out demos, he got into contact with J. Noize at KVEG Hot 97.5 and got the chance to audition for a Friday and Saturday night mix show. The audition went smoothly, and in early 2006 Palomares moved to Las Vegas with big goals to take on the local radio scene! After a short run at KVEG, James chose to part from radio for awhile and focus on his club and concert gigs. Although this didn’t last for long as within a few month he struck a deal with ED Stoltz, owner of Royce Intl Broadcasting to host and mix for the drive time “5 O’clock Gridlock Mix” on his Palm Springs station 97.7 KRCK. Since this time James’ hard work and dedication with the company has turned into a 5-10p night show time slot broadcast in 3 markets! He can now be heard on 97.7 in Palm Springs, 92.7 in San Franciso and 104.3 in Las Vegas. Since moving to Vegas DJSupaJames has taken the scene by storm. In his short time in the city he has played many high profile events for artists such as Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Britney Spears, Three Six Mafia and many others, as well as being featured on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16. SupaJames has also released a handful of mix-tapes and continues to deliver new releases every few months. “Music is life, it can control anyone’s mind and body. It doesn’t matter if there’s one person, or 10,000 people feeling my mix, that’s all it takes to motivate me,” he says. |
